Memory, O3 & 04-Mini, 4.1 and social media rumor-following you need to know

If you have persecuted it AI Lately it has been easy to have the feeling of drowning in acronyms and version numbers.

Openai was on a role with new model publications, updates and functions that change our interaction with AI. From powerful argumentation models such as O3 and 04-mini to the stunning potential of the Chatgpt storage, Openai even beats its own performance forecasts.

In this deep dive, I will share the latest updates and explain what creators, developers and everyday users mean. Then I will tell my thoughts about where Openai will be led next, including rumors about an upcoming social media platform.

Why Openaai should not be forbidden to name things

Let me first say: Openai needs a name consultant. Seriously. Between GPT-4.5, GPT-4.1, O3, 04-mini and whatever you cook, the name conventions have become total chaos.

The version numbers do not follow the traditional chronology, which is frustrating for users, which model is new and better. Openaai has recognized the problem and plans to combine its interface in the future, whereby a single model (probably GPT-5) forwards inquiries to the most suitable backend.

Until then, we navigate a complex labyrinth of version numbers and acronyms.

In the following you will find an overview of the current main models from Openaai, including their strengths, weaknesses and performance features. I also emphasized which models are switched off and which are new or soon come.

Best for scientific and mathematical argument: o3

The O3 model from Openai is a power package for deep scientific and mathematical thinking, especially if it is paired with external tools. In a test, O3 with Python scored 99.5% in competitive mathematics – it is basically.

It also exceeds other models in scientific questions and complex logical arguments at graduate level. If you think about models that could deliver scientific discoveries in the not too distant future, it is.

Best for the coding: GPT-4.1 Full and O3

There are some different options for the coding that work well. GPT-4.1 Full was explicitly developed for the coding and follow-up of instructions, which shows a strong performance when coding benchmarks. GPT4.1 is actually a more intelligent model than GPT4.5. Although the numbering scheme went backwards, it is a more powerful model than 4.5.

For a while, O1 Openai’s top dog model has been the best of the best, but now it has been dethroned by O3. O3 is ideal for complex logic and argumentation tasks, which makes it ideal for debuging and solving advanced programming problems.

Best for writing, creativity and general use: GPT-4

GPT-4 is the standard model from Openai in Chatgpt. So if you have only dealt with the free version, this is probably what you used. GPT-4.5 was my contact for creativity and the best Openai model that I saw for human writing, but unfortunately this is no longer available.

This power should translate into GPT-5, but until that is available, GPT-4 is the next best for writing, creativity and general use.

Best value: GPT-4.1 nano

GPT-4.1-nano is a small, fast model with surprisingly good performance. This is ideal for quick tasks where high-end current is not required. It has a million token context window. If you want to access the superpower of 4.0, but do not want to get 200 US dollars a month or more for professionals, try Nano.

How to compare the models from Openai with external models

Openai no longer publishes its performance data side by side with competitors, but it is worth examining. For example, Google’s Gemini 2.5 Pro recently made headlines for his impressive coding functions and exceeded expectations. Google quietly took the lead in AI coding in 2025, and people didn’t talk enough about it.

Claude 3.7 from Anthropic is also promising, but has to deal with consistency compared to previous versions. The O3 model from Openai exceeds Claude 3.7 in Benchmark’s math and argument.

While Openai leads in some areas such as multimodal understanding and argument, the gap between top animal models narrowed. Developers should evaluate models based on specific applications and not solely by the company.

New function: Chatgpt -Steicher

One of the most effective updates from Openai this year is the chatt memory, with which the model can keep the context across the sessions. This means that interactions build up over time and create more personalized experience.

I tested this by asking Chatgpt to describe myself based on our chats, and the results were somehow shocking. It understood things about me that I didn’t explicitly told it.

This means that AI holistically approaches the understanding of people and their preferences. This leads to strongly personalized support and recommendations without being explicitly asked.

Come soon? Openai Social Media Network to be able to compete with X

Memory is a central feature of understanding who actually are people. With these capacities, Chatgpt could be ready to create the first AI-native social network. Rumors that Chatgpt uses its digital memory functions on a new arena: social media (especially an X-like platform).

In contrast to conventional platforms that are driven by engagement algorithms, Openai’s approach could use the AI to curate sensible content, to filter noise and to reconcile with individual interests. Personalization would be central, with the potential for a AI-controlled curation and real-time analysis of the user.

Although no official details were published, I would personally be very excited to see this and try it out.

How to use Chatgpt

How to stay on the AI model fire trousers

The latest updates from Openaai reflect a wider trend: AI systems become smarter, faster and integrated into everyday workflows. With the publication of O3, 04-mini and the introduction of the Chatgpt storage, we see a shift of reactive tools to proactive, adaptive companions.

Companies that are slow or resistant to AI will fall back. Do not be introduced by model confusion in paralysis. Instead, test quickly and often and organize the speed and flexibility to build AI into your workflows.
