We are pleased to announce an update to our Offer scheme within Yoast SEO for Shopify. This update introduces a more robust way to communicate prices to search engines, specifically: Selling price crossed out.
What’s new?
Until now, communicating a “sale” was often limited to specifying a single price. With this update, we refined how our schema handles the Offer object. You can now clearly define:
- The original price: The “base price” before any discounts.
- The selling price: The current active price that the customer pays.
Why this is important
When search engines understand the relationship between your original and selling prices, they can better represent your listings in search results. This update aims to help attract that attention Strikethrough price treatments in Google Shopping and organic snippets and improve your click-through rate by visually highlighting the value you offer.
How to use it
The schema automatically closes the gap between your product data and the structured data output. Just make sure your product’s Regular Price and Special Offer Price fields are filled out. Our updated schema will take care of the rest. For more information about the structured data included in all of our products, please visit our structured data features page.
