However, if you have ever asked a model like Chatgpt to explain your website, product or your API, the results may not feel quite right. In fact, they are sometimes far away. And no, that’s not your fault.

The separation between websites and LLMS

Large voice models (LLMS) such as Chatgpt, Claude or Gemini are trained to understand a wide range of content. But if you try to interpret your website at runtimeThat is, if someone actively asks you a question, he came across some core problems:

A growing number of developers and AI researchers take over a light, human readable standard that is mentioned llms.txt.

What is llms.txt?

llms.txt is a simple Markdown file placed on the trunk of your website, which offers language models with a summary of your project and direct links to Clean, LLM-readable versions of important pages. It was interpreted for the use of the inference time and can help AI tools to quickly understand the structure, the purpose and content of a website without relying on overcrowded HTML or metadata intended for search engines.

What it does:

• Gives a short summary of your website or your project
• Links to Clean, LLM-capable Markdown versions of key sites
• Helps AI tools to find exactly what matters without analyzing untidy HTML

Is it widely supported? Not yet

At the moment, no large LLM provider LLMS.txt officially supports. Tools such as Gptbot (Openaai), Claude (Anthropic) and Google’s Ki -Crawler do not refer as part of their creeping behavior. Some companies like Anthropic themselves publish LLMS.txt files themselves, but there is no evidence that a crawler actively uses them to call up or use training.

Nevertheless, it is a supplement with a low effort and without risk that your website is prepared for a future in which structured LLM access becomes more standard. And you can use LLM orientation tools or even your own AI agents today.
