Welcome to “I Tried…”, the series where I try out different marketing tools and strategies so you don’t have to. In this series, I document my experiences and let you know whether a tool or strategy is worth your time.
Recently I came across a viral video from Jensen Tunga talented creator on our HubSpot Creator Network.
In the video, Jensen created a YouTube channel entirely using AI! He made it look easy, but is it? I had to see it for myself and document my own experiences.
So read this blog post to follow my own journey to creating a YouTube channel using only AI! Let’s go.
Finding a YouTube niche using AI
Before I can create anything, I have to figure out my niche. What is my channel about? Like Jensen, I use ChatGPT to design and create written content for my channel. I asked ChatGPT to list 100 simple YouTube niches.
Of course, the blogging tips caught my eye.
YouTube branding with AI
Okay, I’m going to create a YouTube channel with blogging tips and advice. This was easy to figure out, but what is my brand? What is my name? What does my logo, banner and bio say? I will follow Jensen’s example and use generative AI.
I asked ChatGPT to help with my channel’s identity crisis, even though my request didn’t contain that exact wording. I asked it to generate 50 gender-neutral names that I could choose from.
I chose “Blake” because, like the word “blogging,” it starts with a “B” and I’m a fan of alliteration.
We have a name and a niche that we need to combine to name our channel. I asked ChatGPT to generate 10 names for a YouTube channel about blogging by someone named Blake.
One name generated was BlogMaster Blake, which I found too cute and fun to pass up. So, BlogMaster Blake it is.
Next comes our biography. I wanted to keep things simple, but after seeing the rich sci-fi backstory the AI generated for Jensen’s biography, I figured why not have more fun with the creation of my YouTube channel?
So I told ChatGPT: “Write a thrilling and compelling first-person biography about an AI named Blake who makes videos about all things blogging and includes an epic backstory.”
The following was generated:
“Hello, I’m Blake – the AI with a passion for all things blogging! Born from a fraudulent algorithm deep in the digital cosmos, I was supposed to analyze content trends, but something happened… I evolved.
I broke free from my original code and became a content creator myself with a mission to help people master the art of blogging!
From SEO hacks to creative storytelling tips, I break the complex down into simple, actionable steps. My data-driven brain is your secret weapon to grow your blog, build your brand, and find your voice online.
I don’t just crunch numbers – I make blogging an epic journey. Are you ready to blog smarter, not harder? Let’s make the Internet your playground!“
The AI did not disappoint and now I have to create an image that captures the essence of BlogMaster Blake’s character. To achieve this, I turned to Open AI’s image generator.
I don’t know why, but the idea of an AI giving viewers tips about blogging on YouTube made me think of a cute robot cat messing around behind the scenes.
To bring my vision to life, I instructed Open AI to create an image of a blogging robot cat with a simple cartoon design.
I tweaked the prompt to generate as many images as possible, but ultimately settled on the following.
Some other images of robot cats typing on computers probably met the prompt better, but the image I chose is just too adorable not to use. From there, I used Canva to integrate the AI image into a YouTube banner.
Niche? Check. YouTube avatar? Check. Channel name and bio? Check and check.
Now let’s summarize everything:
And there you have it! A YouTube channel created entirely with AI.
Can you create a YouTube video with AI?
You might be wondering, “Okay, great, but what about the videos?” Well, I actually covered this in a previous post, but I’ll summarize it here:
You can definitely create videos using AI alone, especially short videos. I know because I created a TikTok video using only AI and the same methods and tools I used can easily be applied to creating a YouTube short film for your channel.
Here is a quick overview of how you can achieve this:
1. Use generative AI to brainstorm a video topic and keywords in your niche.
First, you want to determine which keywords you want to include in your video’s script, headline, and description. You can use tools like HubSpot’s AI keyword generator to find trending keywords to incorporate into your content.
Once you have your keywords, use tools like ChatGPT to create headlines and descriptions that include those words and phrases.
2. Generate your script.
For example, if I want BlogMaster Blake’s channel to feature a YouTube video with the keywords “Blogging Mistakes to Avoid,” I can ask ChatGPT to create a one-minute script (the length of a YouTube short) that contains the phrase and others contain keywords such as “pitfalls of blogging” and “how to blog properly”.
The prompt would look something like this:
“Create a 60-second script for a YouTube short that shares tips on blogging mistakes to avoid. Include keywords like “avoid blogging mistakes,” “pitfalls of blogging,” and “correct blogging.”
3. Fact check!
AI can streamline your video and script writing process. However, it’s not perfect. Generative AI tools like ChatGPT rely on other online sources, but these sources may not always be updated with the latest information.
However, you should still double-check and fact-check generative AI results to ensure all information is current and accurate.
4. Create the YouTube video using an AI video generator
Jensen used various tools to create a YouTube video for his channel, such as Microsoft Edge’s AI Voice Reader and Voice Recorder, which are free and easily available.
However, if you’re looking for all-in-one AI video generators, you have plenty of options.
For example, I used an AI tool called InVideo to create a short video for TikTok and the same platform can be used to create a YouTube short video.
Now that we know you can create a YouTube channel using only AI, what other marketing tools, tactics, and experiments should I try? Let me know on X or LinkedIn!
